Job summary

Wtimber in Exshaw, AB is seeking a motivated full-time, permanent Shop Hand to join our Production Crew. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience with timber products and machinery.

Your responsibilities will include timber preparation, shop maintenance, logistics support, and equipment operation. No experience is required, and training will be provided for the right candidate.

Competitive compensation starts at $22-25 per hour with full benefits after 6 months and 3 weeks of paid vacation.

Qualifications

• No prior experience is required; training provided.
• Must have reliable transportation to drive to Exshaw, AB.
• Must be physically fit to lift heavy products.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on preparation of timber products including sanding and staining.
• Ensure the shop is clean, organized and well maintained.
• Assist with shipping and receiving.
• Organize products within the warehouse.
• Operate machinery including forklifts and CNC planers.
• Complete checklists for quality assurance.

Job description

We’re seeking a motivated full-time, permanent Shop Hand to become an integral part of our Production Crew in Exshaw, AB (close to Canmore, Alberta). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to gain hands‑on preparation of timber products, including operating machinery and equipment and facility maintenance in our warehouse.

Responsibilities

At Woodpecker we create enduring timber frame legacies by merging traditional German and Canadian timber frame joinery with cutting‑edge technology and a strong commitment to green building, efficiency, and sustainability.

As a Shop Hand, you’ll be crucial in preparing our high‑quality timber products and maintaining our efficient production environment. Your daily activities will include:

• Timber Preparation: hands‑on preparation of timber products, including sanding and staining
• Shop Maintenance: ensuring the shop is consistently clean, organized and well maintained
• Logistics Support: assisting with shipping and receiving by filling orders, loading/unloading trucks, and preparing packages for shipment
• Warehouse Organization: efficiently moving and organizing the product and pieces within the warehouse
• Equipment Operation: operating a variety of machinery and tools, including forklifts, CNC planers, and other woodworking equipment (training provided!)
• Quality Assurance: completing checklists to maintain our high standards

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone with a strong work ethic and desire to learn. No prior experience is required – we’re committed to providing training.

• Eagerness to learn, no experience is required; training provided including forklift and skid steer
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and assist others
• Adaptable to work in a fast‑pace environment and flexible with changing priorities
• Must be physically fit to lift heavy product
• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive to our shop in Exshaw, AB daily
• First Aid and WHMIS is an asset but not required
