Its long-standing industry presence and continued growth reflect a dedication to building lasting customer relationships and developing solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced shop leader to take ownership of daily service operations, support a skilled team of technicians, and play a key role in delivering high-quality equipment maintenance and repair. If you enjoy leading by example, solving technical challenges, and creating a productive, safety‑focused work environment, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

As the Shop Foreman, you will oversee daily shop operations, coordinate technician workloads, and ensure equipment repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will provide hands‑on leadership, support technical problem‑solving, and help deliver an exceptional service experience for customers.

Shop Operations & Workflow Management

Coordinate and prioritize daily shop activities, assigning work to technicians based on skill level, workload, urgency, and customer requirements. Monitor repair progress and ensure service jobs are completed within established timelines and productivity expectations. Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement practical improvements to increase shop efficiency, reduce downtime, and maximize resource utilization. Coordinate the availability of parts, tools, equipment, and other resources required to complete repairs effectively.

Technical Support & Quality Control

Provide hands‑on technical guidance to technicians diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment and related systems. Assist with complex troubleshooting and help resolve technical challenges to minimize delays and ensure accurate repairs. Review completed work to confirm repairs meet manufacturer specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations. Ensure service documentation, work orders, inspection records, and repair recommendations are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, coach, and mentor technicians to strengthen technical capabilities, improve productivity, and encourage professional development. Foster a collaborative shop environment where accountability, communication, and continuous improvement are valued. Support technician onboarding, training, performance feedback, and the development of individual and team capabilities. Promote a positive team culture by setting clear expectations, addressing challenges proactively, and leading by example.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Champion a safe working environment by ensuring shop procedures, equipment handling practices, and applicable safety requirements are consistently followed. Conduct or support safety inspections and address potential hazards before they lead to incidents. Ensure technicians use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow established procedures when working with heavy machinery, tools, and shop equipment. Maintain an organized, clean, and professional shop environment that supports safe and efficient operations.

Customer Service & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with service management, parts personnel, and other internal teams to coordinate repairs, resolve issues, and maintain service commitments. Communicate repair priorities, technical concerns, and job status updates to the appropriate stakeholders. Help address service escalations and ensure customer concerns are resolved professionally and efficiently. Contribute to a customer‑focused service operation by balancing quality workmanship, turnaround times, and cost‑effective repairs.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

Monitor shop productivity, repair quality, turnaround times, and other key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement. Support the implementation of processes and best practices that improve service delivery, technician efficiency, and overall shop performance. Identify recurring equipment issues, operational challenges, and training needs, recommending solutions that support long‑term results. Contribute to departmental goals by promoting accountability, effective resource management, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate: Education & Experience: Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician, or a related mechanical trade is strongly preferred. Several years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, ideally within a dealership, equipment service centre, or comparable industrial environment. Demonstrated experience coordinating repair schedules, managing competing priorities, and maintaining service quality. A valid driver's licence is required; additional licensing or endorsements may be an asset depending on operational requirements. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of heavy equipment mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems. Proficiency in equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair procedures.
