SEQUOIA is a tradeshow, experiential marketing, and custom fabrication company creating branded environments, exhibits, displays, activations, and event installations for clients across a wide range of industries.

We are looking for a Shop Fabricator to join our production team. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys building things, solving problems, and turning drawings and concepts into high-quality finished pieces.

Position Overview

The Shop Fabricator will work alongside our production, project management, and design teams to fabricate custom tradeshow exhibits, experiential installations, retail displays, scenic elements, and other custom projects.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable using shop tools, takes pride in their workmanship, and can adapt to the variety and fast pace of custom fabrication.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Pitt Meadows, BC shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Production Manager.
  • Fabricate custom exhibits, displays, scenic elements, and experiential installations from drawings, plans, and project specifications.
  • Work with materials including plywood, MDF, dimensional lumber, plastics, laminates, acrylic, and other specialty materials.
  • Operate common woodworking and fabrication equipment, including table saws, mitre saws, routers, sanders, drills, and other power and hand tools.
  • Assemble cabinetry, walls, counters, platforms, displays, signage structures, and other custom components.
Finishing & Installation Prep
  • Perform finishing work including sanding, filling, laminating, painting preparation, and installation of hardware.
  • Assist with application and installation of graphics and signage when required.
  • Interpret shop drawings, dimensions, cut lists, and basic construction details.
  • Test-fit and pre-assemble projects in the shop before they are shipped to site.
  • Prepare projects for packing, shipping, and transportation.
Shop Operations & Team
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
  • Properly maintain and care for tools, equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Work efficiently to meet project schedules and production deadlines.
  • Support other members of the production team as required.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Background in carpentry, cabinetmaking, millwork, scenic fabrication, tradeshow fabrication, construction, or a related field.

  • Physical Capability: Physically capable of lifting and moving materials and working on your feet throughout the day.

  • Cabinetmaking or finish carpentry
  • CNC operation
  • Laminate and veneer work
  • Acrylic and plastic fabrication
  • Metal fabrication
  • Painting and finishing
  • Vinyl and graphic installation
  • Electrical or LED installation
  • Tradeshow or event installation
  • Scenic fabrication
Schedule

This is primarily a shop-based position in Pitt Meadows, Monday through Friday. Some projects may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, overtime, or travel for installations and event deadlines.

Salary Range
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
Why Join SEQUOIA
  • Full-time, hands-on work with a wide variety of custom projects.
  • Opportunity to build unique projects rather than producing the same product every day.
  • Collaborative environment working with designers, project managers, and experienced fabricators.
  • Opportunities to develop skills across multiple areas of fabrication.
  • Work on projects for major brands, events, tradeshows, and experiential activations.

You might be a great fit if you’re the person who looks at a drawing and immediately starts figuring out how to build it. Our projects change constantly. One week you might be building a custom tradeshow booth, the next a branded activation, display, stage element, or unusual one-off piece that has never been built before. We value people who are resourceful, practical, collaborative, and proud of what leaves the shop.
