Boart Longyear is hiring a Fleet Electrician for our Haileybury, Ontario facility. The role requires strong HV electrical expertise, a current electrical license, and the ability to plan, test, and report on high-voltage systems.

You will work with drill rigs, generators, and electrical assets, ensuring safe operation and adherence to procedures. Competitive hourly wage plus benefits and pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Must hold an electrical license and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
• Experience performing high-voltage electrical testing on mining or industrial equipment.
• Ability to read and follow electrical schematics for safe integration.
• Capable of building wiring, junction boxes and control panels.
• Proficient with CAN/Ethernet networks and vehicle controls interfaces.

Job description

Boart Longyear has been a leading provider of drilling products and services to the global minerals industry for over 125 years. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Fleet Electrician. This position is based out of our Haileybury, Ontario facility.

Hourly Wage: $30.00 - $50.00 /hr

Key Specific Responsibilities include:

• Strict adherence to existing testing procedures and processes
• Undertake project planning tasks, including job planning and EHS risk management
• Perform HV electrical testing across all HV assets such as Drill rigs, cabling, generators, motors, transformers and switchgear
• Record test results on the relevant test certificates and compile test reports [COC’s]
• Liaise with client representatives

Key Skills and experience required:

• Infallible focus on Safety
• Current electrical license
• Must be able to build High-Voltage and Low-Voltage electrical wiring
• Must be able to build junction boxes, power distribution boxes, control panels and fuse boxes
• Must have an excellent knowledge in High-Voltage safety of batteries and electrical wiring
• Must be able to instrument the electric powertrains components for Power analysis, Current probes, Voltage probes etc.
• Must be well versed in reading and following electrical wiring schematics for safe system integration
• Should be qualified in High-Voltage system implementation.
• Strong knowledge in automotive Network design (CAN, Ethernet)
• Good understanding of engine and vehicle controls interface
• Must be able to lead technically and provide guidance
• Must be able to propose technical solutions
• Experience in preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance techniques for electrical assets
• Strong computer & communication skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook essential)
• Ability to work both autonomously & as part of a team
• Excellent spoken & written communication
• Strong organizational skills
• An HV Switching Ticket
