Job description

Option Construction Corp., headquartered in Spruce Grove, AB, is a leading General Contractor/Petroleum Contractor specializing in the Downstream Oil and Gas and Commercial Industry. Our services encompass new construction, redevelopment, facility maintenance, and installations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
We are currently seeking a diligent and reliable Shop Coordinator to join our expanding Petroleum Construction team.
Reports To: Project Manager


Job Summary
The Shop Coordinator is responsible for the company's shop and yard's organization, maintenance, and daily operations. This role ensures that equipment, tools, and materials are properly inventoried, maintained, and distributed to support ongoing construction jobs. The Shop Coordinator works closely with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth operations, safety compliance, and efficiency in material handling.

Job Type: Full-time, Long-term
Travel: Required


Key Responsibilities
• Track inventory of tools, equipment, and materials in the shop and yard.
• Oversee deliveries, shipments, and proper storage of construction materials.
• Carry loads and make deliveries at an expedited rate (Hotshot).
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure required materials and equipment are available.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace.
• Create purchase orders and tracking procurement requests.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, POST, and industry safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by management and are not limited to the ones listed.


Required Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse or yard in the construction industry.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and safety practices.
• Fluent in English (both verbal and written) for effective communication.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment (forklift certification preferred).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Certifications & Training
• CSTS AND WHMIS certifications.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing is required.
• Forklift certification is preferred.
• For the selected candidate, the company will cover the cost of necessary certifications.


Working Conditions
• Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions.

• Must be able to operate forklift and Gooseneck trailers.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labour.
• Physically demanding role requiring the ability to lift and move heavy materials.
