Shipping Manager - Montreal (12-month contract)
Position Purpose

The purpose of this role is to plan, organize, control, and coordinate activities related to the shipping department at the Montreal plant.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the team and department handling shipping and warehousing of finished goods.
  • Plan, organize, control, and coordinate trailer/container arrivals and departures.
  • Count and verify all finished goods imports.
  • Manage interactions with CRA agents, inspections, and questions regarding destruction or export of finished goods.
  • Ensure accuracy of finished goods inventories.
  • Conduct daily quality control and production verification of finished goods.
  • Collaborate with Logistics to maintain SAP systems impacting virtual inventory movement.
  • Analyze and implement measures to improve shipping processes.
  • Coordinate and optimize production plans with partners (order close-out, critical goods, month-end procedures, etc.).
  • Support production operations related to packaging changes, legislation, and new product launches in collaboration with the Market team.
  • Coordinate tobacco material exports from Montreal to other JTI plants.
  • Maintain communication channels between the plant and other departments (Logistics, Finance, etc.).
  • Support the Manufacturing Services & Logistics team.
Qualifications and Experience
  • College degree in management or operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience in production planning and supervision.
  • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset.
Skills, Competencies, and Languages
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team spirit, leadership, initiative, and ability to motivate others.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor.
  • Highly organized.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards is an asset.
