Shipping and Building Maintenance Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Sander Geophysics (SGL) specializes in high-resolution airborne geophysical surveys for petroleum and mineral exploration, as well as geological and environmental mapping. The company carries out airborne gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, and radiometric surveys, using fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Assist in creation and maintenance of shipping records
  • Assist in proper packing and shipping of items sent to the field or for repair or overhaul
  • Receive and distribute articles arriving at SGL
  • Assist in preventative maintenance of building, equipment, and grounds-keeping
  • Collect and remove garbage and recyclable materials and ensure the safe disposal of hazardous waste
  • Clean external areas such as entrance-ways, sidewalks, and parking lots using brooms, rakes, shovels, and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow, and other refuse. Perform minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and watering
  • Complete and maintain related records such as maintenance logs
  • Understand, comply, and promote all company safety precautions and policies including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations
  • Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts
  • Operate a motor vehicle to pick up, make deliveries, and run various errands
  • Ensure the shipping area is clean and clear at all times
  • Understand, comply with, and promote all company policies and procedures including reporting of hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Successful completion of secondary school
  • One (1) year related work experience
  • Ability to obtain Transport Canada Airside Pass, TDG, and forklift certificate
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Forklift, working at heights, and First Aid certifications considered an asset
  • Computer literate with Word and Excel skills
  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, follow instructions, and work with minimal supervision
