Position Overview
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for all shipping and receiving duties. It is crucial that all packages are shipped on time and in perfect condition, and that incoming shipments are effectively received and distributed to staff to ensure our clients are supported professionally. This role reports to the Warehouse Manager or Director of Operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Perform physical activities to load, unload, sort, and move shipments manually or with equipment.
- Verify shipment accuracy by examining contents and comparing with records.
- Pack, seal, and label materials for shipping.
- Follow shipping/receiving policies, procedures, and compliance measures.
- Maintain compliance with laws and standards, completing necessary documentation.
- Prepare shipping documents like work orders and bills of lading.
- Complete daily shipping and receiving logs.
- Determine shipping methods based on procedures, routes, and rates.
- Record shipment data for reporting and record-keeping.
- Coordinate with carriers for shipping and delivery arrangements.
- Address issues such as damages or shortages with relevant representatives.
- Order and store shipping supplies to maintain inventory.
- Maintain cleanliness in shipping and receiving areas.
- Compute space, shipping, and storage requirements.
- Complete incident reports related to health, safety, or spills.
- Ensure a safe working environment at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED.
- At least 3 years’ experience in shipping/receiving or similar.
- Experience with courier and carrier shipments domestically and internationally.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs. independently.
- Follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
- Experience with RF-based WMS systems (preferred).
- Experience operating industrial forklift equipment.
