Job description

Job Title: Starbucks Shift Supervisor

As a Starbucks Shift Supervisor, you will assist the store manager in executing store operations during scheduled shifts. As a team lead, you will deploy partners and delegate tasks to create the Starbucks Experience for our customers by providing legendary customer service with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment. You will be responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles and best of all, you’ll be part of a company that is consistently rated as a great place to work and the people here love what they do.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
  • Act with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks.
  • Maintain a calm demeanor during high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Evaluate environment and customers to anticipate needs and respond accordingly.
  • Communicate information to the manager to ensure the team responds effectively and creates the Third Place environment during each shift.
  • Assist with new partner training, providing positive reinforcement and respectful coaching.
  • Provide feedback to the store manager on partner performance during shifts.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by recognizing morale and performance issues and communicating them appropriately.
  • Provide clear, specific, and respectful coaching to partners to ensure operational excellence and improve performance.
  • Deliver legendary customer service by acting with a customer-first attitude and connecting with customers.
  • Respond to customer needs and develop positive relationships by understanding individual motivations and concerns.
  • Execute store operations during scheduled shifts, including opening and closing duties.
  • Follow Starbucks policies and procedures, including cash handling and safety/security protocols.
  • Ensure proper cash management practices are followed by the shift team.
  • Follow up with baristas to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Provide quality beverages, whole beans, and food products consistently, adhering to standards.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments using organizational tools and collaborate with the store manager on new recognition methods.
  • Utilize operational tools to achieve excellence during the shift.
Summary of Experience
  • Customer service experience in a retail or restaurant environment.
