Job description

Reporting to the PEP Daily Execution Leader (Chief Power Engineer), the Shift Supervisor (PEP Team Captain) at Celanese Canada ULC is directly responsible for both Operations Supervision and site wide utilities management, including steam, compressed air, cooling water, service / fire water, natural gas distribution, sewer systems and medium / high voltage electrical switching. You will act as a liaison with the Operations (24 / 7 Team) in key departments to drive Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Quality (SQRE) initiatives and serve as the site Incident Commander during plant emergencies.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Leadership

  • Demonstrate a commitment to the site vision and values.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team.

Safety

  • Independently lead planned safety events (SQRE Meetings, SIP, Safety Standdown
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the site’s safety culture.
  • Promote the highest level of safety throughout the PEP Core

Execution

  • Field presence, safety focus and leader of the team, knowledge provider, and decision-maker
  • Understand and execute the support processes for the PEP Core and site.
  • Provide guidance and set priorities to achieve the production schedule and advancing the 4 core principles (Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement)

Qualifications :

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A valid 2ndClass Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency in the Province of Alberta
  • Five years of solid progressive supervisory experience in an industrial or petrochemical facility
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

Hours of Work

This position requires shift work. The shifts will be rotating twelve-hour (days to night) shift schedule.
