Job summary

Russel Metals in Cambridge, ON is hiring a Swing Shift Supervisor to coordinate day-to-day activities of staff and ensure low-cost, high-service operations. The role is full-time and permanent, with a two-week rotating schedule: days (7am–3pm) and afternoons (3pm–11pm). Employment is conditional on passing a medical assessment including drug testing.

The role focuses on labour relations, performance management, shipping/receiving, inventory control, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience leading, supervising and directing unionized employees.
• General knowledge of warehouse machine and equipment operations (e.g. overhead cranes and saws).
• Computer proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities at once.
• Knowledge of Metalware, Employment Standards Act, transportation legislation, ISO quality standards and inventory control reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive labour relations.
• Manage employee performance to ensure compliance with company standards and collective agreement.
• Ensure outbound/inbound trucks are loaded/unloaded timely and efficiently.
• Ensure materials are processed to customer specifications.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties as needed.
• Maintain inventory integrity.
• Maximise equipment uptime, productivity and accuracy.
• Support being the low-cost provider of products and services.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized workplace and comply with OHSA and policy.

We are currently hiring a Swing Shift Supervisor at ourCambridge,ON Branch. This is a full-time, permanent job. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the day-to-day activities of our employees (coach) in order to become the low-cost provider of products and services all while ensuring best in class service.

The hours of work are 2 weeks on days (7am - 3pm) and then 2 weeks on afternoons (3pm-11pm).

Due to our safety sensitive work environment, employment is conditional upon successfully passing a medical assessment including drug testing.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain positive labour relations
• Manage employee performance to ensure compliance with company standards and within the scope of the collective agreement
• Ensure all outbound and inbound trucks are loaded / unloaded in a timely and efficient fashion while maximizing productivity
• Ensure that materials are processed or picked (including packaged) in precisely the size and quantity that the customer expects
• Perform shipping and receiving duties as needed, or directed by management
• Ensure inventory integrity is maintained
• Ensure equipment uptime, productivity and accuracy is maximized
• Ensure that we are the low-cost provider of products and services
• Ensure a clean, safe and well-organized working environment is maintained and all operations are in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, quality standards and company policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• MUST HAVE: Experience leading, supervising and directing unionized employees

• Proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities at once
• Knowledge of Metalware (including bar coding), Employment Standards Act, applicable transportation legislation, ISO quality standards, company policies and inventory control procedures and reports.

Salary range:

$68,000 - $72,000
