Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 20+ associates with varying levels of responsibility in achieving production targets on a shift-by-shift basis while keeping safety and quality top of mind and, using the Mars 5 principals to guide your decision making. Drive continuous improvement through basic problem solving with the support of your team, focused on the top issues disrupting output. Strategize and implement improvement plans toward making your team more successful in the long term via cross training, up skilling, enhanced training methodologies, etc. Facilitate site initiatives related to the Mars Supply Excellence (MSE) program such as Autonomous Maintenance, FMOS, Progressive Maintenance, etc. as the site works to enhance standards and drive improved adherence. Focus on developing team member capabilities through frequent 1 to 1 connections in addition to formalized Performance and Development Processes. Create a highly engaged environment, driving associates to be the best they can be both in and outside of the workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BASc Eng, BASc Food Science, or BSc preferred. Post secondary completion required.
  • Understanding of applicable laws (OHS, ESA, MOL).
  • Minimum 3-5 years manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Previous people management experience
  • Petfood, food, beverage or pharmaceutical manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading a team of 20+ associates, providing operational expertise while producing quality product, meeting schedule and design specifications at optimum cost in a safe, hygienic work environment.
  • Educate, promote, and develop team operational mindset around efficiency, safety, quality, and service.
  • Leverage MSE processes to sustain or improve the performance of several machines, and modular areas within the factory.
  • Escalate issues in alignment with protocol and ensure follow through on actions, give full and accurate verbal and written handover.
  • Lead problem solving activities within shift, focused on top losses.
  • Drive a high level of associate engagement within team; develop associates through the PDP program; address performance issues in a timely manner and provide recognition of exceptional performance.
  • Reduces changeover and sanitation times through lean tools.
  • Drives site continuous improvement initiatives and projects using shift resources in conjunction with site engineering and CI resources.
  • Support business systems development by ensuring all systems transactions are completed, accurate and reported at end of shift.
  • Provides direction for third-party temps, contractors, and vendors.
  • Execute Shift Manager standard daily work.
  • Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.
Shift
  • Required Shift: 12 Hour rotating shifts
  • Shift rotates between Monday - Friday days (7am- 7:30pm) and nights (7pm- 7:30am).
