Job summary

Stelco seeks a Shift Manager (Shift Engineer) at Lake Erie Works in Nanticoke, Ontario. The position reports to the Area Manager - Operations and oversees safe operations of primary utilities facilities and personnel in a heavy industrial setting.

You will supervise technicians, co-ops and contractors, implement preventive maintenance programs, and manage safety, scheduling and reporting. Requires TSSA 2nd class Power Engineer certificate and 2+ years of supervisory experience; steel mill

Qualifications

• TSSA 2nd class Power Engineer Certificate required.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in heavy industrial or unionized environment.
• Previous work experience in a steel mill is a strong asset.
• Strong leadership and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Administer the company safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the operating facility.
• Promote safety and conduct safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up.
• Apply maintenance knowledge to evaluate and resolve equipment issues for maximum efficiency.
• Supervise technicians, apprentices, co-ops and planners to repair and maintain mill equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs using equipment history.
• Schedule and pay employees, complete maintenance reports and other reporting.
• Participate in recruitment screening and selection of new hires.
• Establish performance goals with Day Manager/Area Manager – Steam Generation.
