Job summary

King’s University College in London, Ontario, seeks a Weekend Shift Lead Custodian to assist the Custodial Supervisor with day-to-day team management. This is a full-time, 40-hour week role, 7:00am–5:00pm, Thursday to Sunday, on campus.

The position requires at least 2 years in a similar role, the ability to lead staff and maintain professional conduct. Strong prioritization and basic email/computer skills are expected to support operations.

  • Act as a point of contact for other departments on custodial matters.
  • Assist during emergencies and keep main and emergency exits clear of snow, ice, leaves.

Job description

DESCRIPTION:

As well as performing regular Custodial duties, the Shift Lead Custodian (Weekend) will assist the Custodial Supervisor with the day to day management of the team.

In this physically demanding job, the incumbent will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Ensure the work plan is followed and adjusted as needed.
  • Responsible following SOPs and ensuring all work areas are covered.
  • Autonomy to work within the guidelines to make decisions, provide guidance and direction, to identify and rectify concerns as they arise while keeping the Custodial Supervisor well informed.
  • Ensures custodial team members work within the guidelines and follow established standards through observation and constructive feedback.
  • Accurate and timely communication with the Custodial Supervisor including attending weekly meetings, and responding to emails.
  • Acts as a point of contact for other departments in regards to custodial matters.
  • Provides assistance during an emergency,
  • Ensures that main and emergency exits are safe to use, by keeping building entrances clear of snow, ice, leaves etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (unless identified as preferred):
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a similar role, ideally in an educational environment, the hospitality industry, hospital or retirement facility.
  • Must be capable of performing all custodial tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Must lead and motivate custodial staff and act in a professional manner when encountering situations of a sensitive nature.
  • Must be able to set priorities and ensure all areas are clean and safe.
  • Will be expected to balance Standard Operating Procedure and other daily job requirements.
  • Familiarity with email and computers is preferred
TYPE OF JOB:

Full Time (40 hours per week), 7:00am to 5:00pm Thursday to Sunday

EFFECTIVE DATE:

As soon as possible.

SALARY RANGE:

SSG 40-5 Approximately $54,103 - $65,918 per annum, dependent on experience
