Job summary

Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver is seeking a Shift Engineer for a parental leave contract from September 2026 to February 2027. The role is full-time, on-site, with duties across guestrooms, public areas and back-of-house systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and respond to service requests, while upholding safety standards. The hotel offers extensive benefits and a generous hourly rate of CAD 36.71 after the initial 90 days.

• Consistently offer professional, engaging and friendly service
• Health & Safety conscious, actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment including inspection ofall areas of the property for safety issues and takingimmediate corrective action
• Service and repair duties of guestrooms, public areas, and heart of house
• Minor equipment repairs,HVAC servicing and filter changes
• Caulking washrooms, bathrooms and repair and replacement of bathroom fixtures, andminor plumbing
• Daily swimming pool test and chemical balancing when assigned
• Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on property’s facilities and equipment
• Assist guests regarding hotel equipment e.g. TV's as needed
• Active participation in our environmental program and sustainable operations
• Daily system checks when assigned
• Other duties as assigned

• Previous maintenance experience in areas such as painting, plumbing, tiling and carpentry, across a large commercial building or similaris preferred
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Highly responsible andreliable, able to work safely with minimum supervision and be able to prioritize tasks
• Excellent guest service skills with an eye for detail and mechanical aptitude needed
• Team oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.Good command of the English language required
• Class 4 ticket an asset
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, overtime shifts and holidays
