Job summary

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is hiring four Sheet Metal Workers for a 40-hour week with various day shifts and off days, primarily weekends. You will fabricate, repair and install metal components for transit vehicles and TTC structures, using CNC and traditional metalworking tools.

Qualified candidates hold a Sheet Metal Worker certificate (308A), a Gas Technician 3 certificate, and a valid Ontario G license.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Sheet Metal Worker, License 308A.
• Requires a valid Gas Technician 3 certificate as detailed in Ontario regulations or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
• Requires a valid, non-probationary Ontario class G driver’s license.
• Must complete TTC in-house training programs relevant to the role.
• Must be medically fit to use a respirator.
• Must have knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related accessibility requirements.
• Must provide a set of tools as per the established tool list.

Responsibilities

• Make and repair a wide range of sheet-metal products and parts for shop equipment, transit vehicles, and TTC structures.
• Use hand tools and power-operated metalworking machines including CNC machinery.
• Install sheet-metal components such as exhaust systems, signs, electrical boxes, frames, piping, and HVAC elements.
• Carry out repair work on buildings and structures including roofs and canopies.
• Grind, polish, and finish metal coverings (stainless steel, copper, brass).
• Operate a TTC vehicle to transport crew and equipment to job sites.
• Treat passengers and employees with respect and accommodate disabilities per policy.
