Sexual Violence Therapists
Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is a dynamic agency that focuses on providing sexual violence counselling and education services to Calgary and surrounding areas. As a Sexual Violence Therapist, you will be part of the Counselling team. The successful candidate will be a compassionate, flexible, and dedicated individual who is able to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialized counselling to people who have been impacted by sexual assault/abuse.
These are full-time (35 hours/week) positions reporting to the Counselling Program Supervisor. If you have a great attitude and possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence, this may be the job for you.

• Regular individual and group supervision Key Responsibilities of the Sexual Violence Therapist:
• Providing trauma specialized counselling to individuals ages 12+ impacted by sexual violence
• Providing individual counselling, in a combination of in-person and/or telehealth appointments as necessary
• Providing group counselling sessions as program requires
• Maintaining comprehensive records
• Maintaining and submitting program statistics monthly
• Providing support and crisis intervention as part of back-up coverage for CCASA’s Support & Information Line as well as Alberta’s One Line for Sexual Violence
• Providing support and crisis intervention to individuals accessing the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART) as back-up coverage
• Attending staff meetings, individual and group supervision, and staff in-services and remaining up-to-date on current literature and counselling methods
• Providing advocacy for clients, including writing letters
• Participating in a number of on-call shifts after hours over the course of the year as part of a rotation
• Assisting in the provision of training for volunteers and students
• Other appropriate duties as assigned
*Successful candidate will be required to work some evenings and occasional weekends and may be required to provide counselling to rural areas surrounding Calgary.
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
• Masters level degree in Counselling or Social Work with Clinical focus
• Must hold active registration with a relevant governing body
• Experience providing counselling, including maintaining a clinical caseload
• Experience providing crisis intervention and conducting risk assessments
• Experience working with the effects of sexual violence on individuals and communities
• Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence
• Understanding of biopsychosocial causes and impacts of trauma
• Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide range of people, both within and outside of the organization • Knowledge of Alberta College of Social Workers Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
