Position Overview

Are you a compassionate and skilled therapist committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families affected by sexual abuse? We’re seeking a dedicated Sexual Abuse Therapist to join our team and provide trauma-informed assessment and treatment to children, youth, and their non-offending family members. This is a powerful opportunity to support healing and resilience through individual, group, and family therapy, while collaborating with caregivers and community partners to create lasting, positive change.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will respond to client referrals, conduct comprehensive assessments, and develop individualized therapeutic plans to address complex emotional, psychological, and behavioural challenges. The therapist will provide counselling in various formats, maintain accurate clinical records, and manage a consistent caseload. This role also involves ongoing collaboration with caregivers and service providers, monitoring client progress, facilitating case transitions, and offering follow‑up support. Additional responsibilities include consulting with professionals, participating in interagency meetings, organizing therapeutic group activities, and contributing to community outreach and prevention efforts.

Qualifications

The candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with at least two years of experience working with sexually abused children and multi‑problem families. Ideally, they should have expertise in play and art therapy, systemic family therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and demonstrate strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

The role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, uphold professional and cultural standards, and manage multiple tasks with flexibility and initiative. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required, while First Aid certification and a second language are considered assets. Sensitivity to cultural and lifestyle diversity and a commitment to ethical, client‑centered care are essential.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
