Job summary

Aviso is seeking a Settlement Service Analyst to join our Vancouver-based Operations team. You will process and monitor inbound and outbound SWIFT messages, validate settlement instructions, and ensure timely settlement of foreign and domestic equity trades within CDS and DTC systems.

You will engage with brokerages and custodians, balance daily settlements, and help maintain settlement files. A collaborative, detail-focused approach is critical in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in an office environment, preferably in the securities industry with experience using Dataphile, CDS and DTC.
  • 1-3 years' experience of SWIFT operations is an asset.
  • CSC (Canadian Securities Course) or IFIC Operations course is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve required objectives within company and regulatory requirements.
  • Self-motivated and results driven.
  • Strong administration skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong organizational, time management and decision-making skills.
  • Fluent communication skills in English; bilingual skills in French are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and match trades on CDS, Arrow or SWIFT within industry standards.
  • Manage daily SWIFT message processing and ensure timely transmission and distribution of them to ingestible settlement instructions for trades to be booked and settled.
  • Matching confirmations of trades done with other institutions.
  • Interaction with counter parties to resolve unmatched or unprocessed trades.
  • Ensure all trades are processed and settled within the required time frame.
  • Balance and correct any outages in the day-to-day processing using the various reports from CDS and Dataphile systems.
  • Interact with Brokerage Firms and Custodians to correct or confirm trades done or not matched.
  • Maintaining, updating and tracking the failed trades and reasons for fails.
  • Balance monthly statements from external sources.
  • Follow the policy and procedures manual for the settlements team and create the process manual for SWIFT.
  • Responsible for the tracking and maintaining of files relating to daily settlements and storage of such records.
  • Work hours may vary due to industry demands or volume.
  • Other duties as assigned and help others out when needed.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Settlement Service Analyst to join our Operations team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Settlement Service Analyst is responsible for processing and monitoring inbound and outbound SWIFT messages of transactions on the SWIFT platform. This role supports trading and operations by ensuring message obligations are met including validating settlement instructions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the settlement of foreign and domestic equity trades within the CDS and DTC systems, including equity option settlements.

There may be a requirement to work on a statutory holiday or weekend.

What your day looks like:

Your experience and skills:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • 2+ years' experience in an office environment, preferably in the securities industry with experience using Dataphile, CDS and DTC

  • Industry related certifications are not required, however successful completion of the CSC (Canadian Securities Course) or IFIC Operations course is an asset

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
