Job summary

ISSofBC in Coquitlam (and Maple Ridge) seeks a Settlement Integration Facilitator for a temporary, full-time, hybrid role. You will promote the pre-settlement process, deliver information sessions, and support clients in accessing services, both in person and online, with a focus on inclusivity and trauma-informed practice.

You will coordinate workshops, referrals, and documentation, contributing to IRCC program outcomes and service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in a relevant field, with a minimum of one year of facilitation experience or training.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience facilitating group workshops or orientation sessions.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working with diverse newcomer populations.
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients.
  • Familiarity with local settlement systems, community resources, and government services.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate group I&O sessions aligned with IRCC Settlement Program.
  • Deliver group I&O sessions using IRCC content; cover topics like housing, employment, health care, and finances.
  • Facilitate settlement-related workshops onsite or online for clients’ needs.
  • Engage participants using adult learning methods and diverse instructional activities.
  • Provide targeted referrals to ISSofBC programs and to external services.
  • Maintain boundaries between information provision and individualized supports.
  • Track attendance and service delivery in the client information system.

Summary

Promotes pre-settlement process through delivery of key of information and orientation workshops and Canadian life skills group sessions utilizing approved curriculum, either in person or online. Provides support to clients in accessing digital group services in alignment with IRCC Settlement Program outcomes.


How You Will Make a Difference

Group Information & Orientation (I&O)


  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate group I&O sessions that strictly align with service requirements

  • of the IRCC Settlement Program.

  • Deliver group I&O sessions using IRCC’s Welcome to Canada Fact Sheets as the core

  • content framework. Sessions must cover the following required topics, as applicable to

  • client needs: After Your Arrival, Housing, Employment, Health Care Services, Money and

  • Finances, Building Your Community, Education, Post-Secondary Education, Consumer

  • Protection, Indigenous Peoples, Foreign Credential Recognition

  • Ensure group I&O sessions are informational and orientation-focused, not case

  • management or counselling, and are delivered in a group-based format as required by IRCC.

  • Adapt delivery methods (plain language, visual aids, interactive activities) to support ESL

  • learners while maintaining fidelity to IRCC-approved content.


Workshop Facilitation & Client Engagement


  • Facilitate settlement-related workshops and group sessions either onsite or online, tailored

  • to clients’ settlement, pre-settlement, and early integration needs.

  • Engage participants using a variety of adult learning methods, including group discussion,

  • role-playing, practical exercises, and multimedia presentations.

  • Review, evaluate, and continuously improve group sessions to ensure effectiveness,

  • relevance, accessibility, and quality.


Referrals & Service Navigation (Group-Based)


  • In group drop-in settings, provide targeted referrals to ISSofBC programs and services (e.g.,

  • settlement, employment, language supports) and to appropriate external community and

  • mainstream services.

  • Conduct client referrals and light follow-ups emerging from group I&O sessions and group

  • drop-ins, ensuring appropriate warm hand-offs where required.

  • Maintain clear boundaries between group information provision and individualized

  • supports, referring clients to Client Integration Specialists as appropriate.


Program Administration, Preparation & Compliance


  • Complete Group I&O preparation and follow-up activities, including session planning,

  • material preparation, post-session documentation, and coordination with the Settlement

  • team.

  • Promote and support recruitment for group I&O sessions and workshops in coordination

  • with the Settlement team.

  • Accurately track participant attendance and service delivery in ISSofBC’s client information

  • system (NewTrack) in accordance with IRCC reporting requirements.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and compliance briefings related to IRCC program

  • requirements and service standards.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


What You Bring


  • Fluency in an additional language(s) is considered a strong asset.

  • Certificate or diploma in a relevant field, with a minimum of one (1) year of facilitation experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating group workshops or orientation sessions.

  • Understanding of adult learning principles and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice.

  • Demonstrated cultural competency and commitment to working effectively with diverse newcomer populations.

  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with clients and manage self-care.

  • Familiarity with local settlement systems, community resources, and government services.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check

ISSofBC Value Proposition


  • Hiring Salary: $24.08 - $33.05 per hour
