Job summary

The Town of Tisdale - Northeast Newcomers Services is seeking a Settlement Advisor on a full-time contract basis. You will support newcomers with settlement needs, provide information and referrals, and help navigate immigration processes. Travel across the region to meet clients who cannot travel is required.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree and 1–2 years in the non-profit sector, preferably with newcomers. Fluent English is essential; a second language is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 1–2 years experience in the non-profit sector, preferably with newcomers.
  • Criminal record check (vulnerable sector included) required.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Ability to travel across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Support newcomers with settlement needs, information, referrals, and general inquiries.
  • Assist with immigration navigation and accessing community resources.
  • Connect newcomers with language, employment, career, and other support services.
  • Conduct needs assessments and provide ongoing client support.
  • Travel throughout the region to meet clients who are unable to travel.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and employers.
  • Participate in community outreach, committees, and planning initiatives.
  • Maintain client files, statistics, reports, social media, and resource information.
  • Provide general administrative and office support.

This is a full time contract position dependent on contract renewal. $26.00 per hour plus pension and benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support newcomers with settlement needs, information, referrals, and general inquiries
  • Assist with immigration navigation and accessing community resources
  • Connect newcomers with language, employment, career, and other support services

  • Travel throughout the region to meet with clients who are unable to travel

Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree (not restricted to, but preferably) in one of the following areas: Commerce, Education, English Language Arts, International Studies, Indigenous Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Social Work or Psychology
  • 1-2 years experience in the non-profit sector (preferably related to newcomers)
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience will be considered
  • Criminal record check (vulnerable sector included)
  • Class 5 Drivers License
  • Access to a vehicle
