Set-Up Technician

How you will contribute

You are responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of the production machines.

Role overview

As a Set-Up Technician you will:

  • Dismantle portions of production machinery as required for sanitation.
  • Adhere to SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Sanitize equipment or parts of equipment in accordance with established Sanitation, Quality, and manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Consult the production schedule to determine the required configuration of the assembled production machine.
  • Consult engineering documentation showing equipment component layout and configuration.
  • Re-assemble production machine with the correct component configuration within a reasonable time.
  • During re-assembly, conduct an ocular inspection of the parts and observe any sharp burrs; gouges that may harbor ingredients leftover during the sanitation process; torn or cracked gaskets; cracked welds; stripped internal or external threads; parts damage that may lead to the assembly unraveling.
  • Document observations.
  • Ensure that fasteners are tightened to the correct tightness (Maintenance will specify).
  • Complete necessary documentation after assembly as required and submit it to Supervisor.
  • Maintain work site in a safe, clean, and orderly manner prior to turning over to Production.
What will make you successful
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Food industry work experience as a Sanitation team member or a Machine operator is preferred.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate (speak, read, write) in English.
  • Ability to read simple configuration layout drawings and assembly/disassembly instructions.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and be able to read and understand WHMIS & MSDS information.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 6m above the floor.
  • Ability to work in a wet/dusty environment, lift 25kg.
  • Ability to work in temperature swings (hot/cold) and high humidity.
  • May be required to work in tight spaces/repetitive motions.

Work schedule: Two-week rotation of days, evenings, and nights. Monday to Friday.

Physical Demands
  • You will stand/sit for long periods of time.
  • You will engage in frequent bending, stooping or squatting.
  • Due to the environment, you will work in various weather and temperature conditions which include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
  • You will work in tight or enclosed spaces.
