This course provides a broad overview of the roles of both citizens and professional practitioners in promoting effective public participation in city planning policy-making. Using theoretical frameworks and case studies from Toronto and beyond, students will understand how public participation supports a healthy democracy and explore challenges and opportunities faced by practitioners today. The course aims to equip students with practical knowledge to design inclusive and effective public participation processes, culminating in a project or report for a client.
Note: Salary rates may vary according to the collective agreement; the rates in the agreement take precedence.
