This course examines in detail the structural and ideological aspects of the media in Canada and the world. Topics considered include the political economy of the media, its relationship to the political process and the internal structure of media institutions as they fulfill ideological functions. Position Requirements • MA or PhD in Political Science or a discipline relevant to the course. Preference related to academic qualifications will be given in the following order: applicants with PhDs; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework and are enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who have completed all PhD coursework but are not currently enrolled in a PhD program; applicants who are enrolled in a PhD program but have not completed PhD coursework; applicants with a Masters degree.
• Demonstrated expertise in the course’s subject; a record of academic research and/or publication related to media and politics is preferred
• A record of effective teaching at the post-secondary level Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is scheduled to be Face-to-Face on Wednesdays 19:00-21:45. Students are expected to attend the course in person.
