Course number and title: PPG2013H-F - Topics in Public Policy: Canadian Energy Policy - Climate, Security, and Trade

Course description:Various Canadian chapters recently convened with key players across the energy sector to engage in a dialogue on enabling a net-zero transition for Canada. Through these meeting they gathered insights and viewpoints for a unified national plan toward a net-zero economy: What is the current and desired narrative, and what are the critical gaps to achieving it? This course will examineCanada's economic opportunity across various sectors to position itself as a global leader in providing clean, cost-effective oil and gas in a low-carbon future. Students will examine the multi-stakeholder actors that will be required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement, which includes achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Estimated course enrolment: 35-40 students

Estimated TA support: 45-hours

Class schedule: Wednesday, 10am - 12.30pm
*The delivery method for this course is expected to be hybrid - in-person and online. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70; Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term - $
10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04; Sessional Lecturer II (Long Term) - $
10,760.28; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28; Sessional Lecturers III (Long Term) - $11,030.36

Minimum qualifications: Graduate degree in Law required, with specialization in public policy. Extensive knowledge of and experience in regulatory sector required.Teaching experience at the graduate level required.

Preferred qualifications: Completed PhD preferred.

Description of duties: Teaching at the graduate level, developing the syllabus, teaching three-hour classes, providing weekly office hours for academic counseling of students, preparing and delivering course material, preparingand delivering assignments and tests, supervising TA(s), marking student work and submitting grades.
