A leading educational institution in Toronto seeks a Sessional Lecturer for the Business Ethics course for Winter 2026. Candidates should have a PhD in philosophy and prior teaching experience. PHLB06H3 - Business Ethics - Winter 2026: An examination of philosophical issues in ethics, social theory, and theories of human nature as they bear on business. What moral obligations do businesses have? Can social or environmental costs and benefits be calculated in a way relevant to business decisions? Do political ideas have a role within business?
The following position for a Sessional Lecturer is available in the Department of Philosophy for the Winter 2026 academic session. This is an emergency posting in accordance with the Collective Agreement between The Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 3.
Please note that the position below is tentative, pending final course determinations and enrolments. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department’s Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department within the past twenty-four months and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty-four months.

Preference in hiring will be given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Salary: in accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the rate of pay for Sessional Lecturer I will be $9,820.70 for a half course inclusive of 4% vacation pay.
Appointment Dates: January 1, 2026 – April 30, 2026. Sessional Dates (including exam periods): January 5, 2026 – April 24, 2026.

Preference will be given to applicants who have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter.
All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
Up to 130 TA hours.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.
