Course Description:

In this course students will learn the basics of research and projectdesign. Students will learn how to conduct a literature review, construct a research questions and hypotheses, conduct case study analysis from both primary and secondary data. As the course is a gateway to working on client projects in the second semesteras part ofGLA2000H Capstone Seminar, students will learn how to work with clients, how to work in teams, presentation skills, memo and report writing.

Estimated course enrolment: 50 per section

Estimated TA support: 150 hours

Class schedule: Wednesday 10am-Noon (LEC0101) & 2-4pm (LEC0102)

Sessional Lecturer I - $18,915.79 ($9,457.90 per section)

Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term - $19,861.58 ($9,930.80per section)

Sessional Lecturer II - $20,243.53 ($10,121.77per section)

Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term - $20,653.23 ($10,326.62per section)

Sessional Lecturer III - $20,725.52 ($10,362.76per section)

Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term - $21,140.03 ( $10,570.02per section)

Minimum Qualifications:PhD in Political Science.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience in this field.

Description of duties: Developing the syllabus, teaching two 2-hour lectures per week at the graduate level, providing weekly office hours for academic counseling of students, preparing and delivering course material; preparing and delivering assignments and tests; marking student work and submitting grades.
