The Paul J. Hill School of Business at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach BUS 394 – Entrepreneurial Finance in person during the Winter 2026 semester. The course analyzes how entrepreneurs and their financial backers can spot, create and manage value. Topics include sources of capital, cash flow forecasting, sensitivity analysis, valuation methodologies, financial contracts and careful negotiations, and different strategies for growing or exiting a venture.

The Winter semester class period is from January 6, 2026 to April 13, 2026 with the final exam period running from April 16 to 29, 2026. Maximum enrollment for this course is 48 and a Teacher Assistant may be provided if requested and available. Please note that receiving a TA is not guaranteed and applicants should be prepared to teach without a TA.

Course Modality: In-person. Course Dates and Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Duration: Winter 2026. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus for each of the 26 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, and offer regular office hours for students each week.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades on time.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 26 75-minute lectures throughout the semester (unless otherwise discussed with the Associate Dean).
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Providing regular support to students on course work as required before and after each class, during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Meeting all submission deadlines as outlined by the Hill School of Business.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student-related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Graduate and/or PhD/doctorate degree in a discipline relevant to the course subject area (note that a bachelor’s degree coupled with relevant professional business experience may also be considered).
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with respect to academic reporting.
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Physical Demands, Pay Grade, Status, and Work Hours: This information is provided in the posting as applicable. The position is part-time (sessional) with in-person teaching on campus.

Work Hours: This course is scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The lecturer is expected to teach on campus for each of the 26 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class, and offer regular office hours.
