Position Summary: The Paul J. Hill School of Business at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach BUS 307 – Business Law in person during Winter 2026. The course provides an introduction to Canadian legal institutions and processes, including the judicial system, law making, contracts, torts and civil liability, constitutional and administrative law, and criminal law.

Winter semester dates: January 6, 2026 to April 13, 2026. Final exam period: April 16–29, 2026. Maximum enrollment: 48. A Teaching Assistant may be provided if requested and available, but TA is not guaranteed; applicants should be prepared to teach without a TA.

Course modality: In-person. Course times: Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on campus. Duration: Winter 2026. Note: 13 lectures, with 10–15 minutes pre-class presence and regular office hours.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the course outline, design assignments, evaluate and grade student work, and submit grades on time.
  • Deliver course content in line with the course description, learning objectives, and university guidelines.
  • Deliver 13 lectures (2.75 hours each) unless otherwise discussed with the Associate Dean.
  • Foster a safe and collaborative classroom environment.
  • Provide regular support to students before and after class, during office hours, and as required.
  • Meet all submission deadlines as outlined by the Hill School of Business.
  • Consult with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student-related matters as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Graduate and/or PhD/doctorate degree in a discipline relevant to the course subject area (note that a bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience may be considered).
  • Must be a current practicing lawyer.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in academic reporting.
  • Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
