Sessional Lecturer- BIO406H5S: Current Topics in Ecology and Evolution
Course description: A combination of lectures and tutorials. The course will emphasize group discussion and critiques of current publications in the field. The theme of the course is expected to be topical and current and to vary from year to year, with the interests of the faculty member(s) teaching the course. Course themes are expected to range from structure and function of whole ecosystems (e.g. the collapse of fisheries) to evolutionary ecology (e.g. the evolution of emergent diseases).

Salary (0.5 FCE) (In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):
Effective September 1, 2025
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,030.36
All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.
Description of duties: Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours. Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams). This course will have synchronous online lectures and tutorials, and the position will include supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
