Job description

Sessional Lecturer- BIO209H5S: Fundamentals of Human Anatomy and Physiology II

Course description: The structure and function of the human body. Topics include integrating different organ systems, such as endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, and urogenital systems. An emphasis is placed on integration of structure and function of the major organ systems. As part of this course, students may have the option of participating in an international learning experience that will have an additional cost and application process.

Estimated course enrolment: 500

Estimated TA support: 700 total hours- to be adjusted according to actual enrolment

Sessional dates of appointment: Jan 1-Apr 30, 2026

Salary (0.5 FCE) (In accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement):

Effective September 1, 2025:

Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,510.04

Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.04

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,760.28

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.28

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,030.36

All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.

Description of duties: Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours. Completion of all grades (may include make-up exams). This course will have synchronous online lectures and tutorials, and the position will include supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
