Job summary

The University of Toronto invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer in Technology Studio IV (ARC381H1F). This role involves delivering course content, managing digital materials and supervising teaching assistants on a 12:00–15:00 schedule Mondays and Thursdays at St.

George campus. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture with computation/design experience; strong teaching and a portfolio are preferred.

Course Description

This studio continues to explore the role of technology in design and promotes innovation in design tool development, building systems, simulation and visualization. Emphasis will be on applying knowledge gained in earlier coursework in a project-based studio setting using computational techniques, physical model making, and 1:1 fabrication and prototyping.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in computation and design.

Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching architectural design at the undergraduate or graduate level. Demonstrated experience in computation is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1–2 page portfolio.

Duties

Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.
