DUTIES

TRU’s Williams Lake campus is located approximately three hours northwest of Kamloops, in the heart of the scenic Cariboo region, on T’exelcemc territory within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.

Our small, friendly and close-knit campus community is located within the city of Williams Lake, BC named in honor of Secwepemc Chief William. This region is rich in history and a plentiful selection of outdoor activities in untouched wilderness, from fishing one of the 4,500 lakes, hiking to mountain tops, to snowmobiling through fresh powder.

The School of Education, Thompson Rivers University, invites applications to teach PHED 1230 - Conditioning, during the Winter 2025 semester.

Students are instructed in the basic principles for health and skill-related fitness. The course provides a basic understanding of the physiological basis for conditioning programs applicable to competitive sport. A discussion of fitness assessment is also a focus in this course.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of one (1) degree in education is required.
• A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Three (3) years of full time or equivalent hours teaching in K-12 settings is required;
• Current successful K-12 teaching experience in the content areas of this course is required;
• Strong theoretical and practical understanding of physical education and conditioning is required.
• Evidence of successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level is strongly preferred;
• Experience as a Faculty Mentor or Teacher Mentor in K-12 settings is preferred;
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills required;
• Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) required.
• Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) required.
• Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) required.

$2,575.50 - $2,575.50 ( Sessional Faculty - Academic (per credit) )
