Description

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a sessional faculty member to teach one section of EDIE4150: Inclusive Education: Specific Learning, scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.

Course Description

This course introduces teacher candidates to the field of specific learning disabilities. It covers the historical perspective, relevant theories, legislation in British Columbia, screening and assessment practices, and intervention strategies impacting classroom practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education
  • Master of Education (PhD / EdD strongly preferred)
  • Recent K-12 teaching experience, with at least three years full-time classroom experience
  • Current knowledge of the subject area
  • Understanding of child development related to elementary or secondary education
  • Post-secondary teaching experience (preferred)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to build intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect
  • Experience with Aboriginal knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62)
  • Skills in fostering intercultural understanding (TRC CA 63)
  • Experience developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10)
