DUTIES

TRU’s Williams Lake campus is located approximately three hours northwest of Kamloops, in the scenic Cariboo region, on T’exelcemc territory within the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation.

The campus community offers a quiet, affordable lifestyle with amenities of larger centers and four seasons of outdoor activities, including fishing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Thompson Rivers University seeks a sessional faculty member to teach ECED 2200: Practicum 3 – Demonstration Practicum (3 credits) in Williams Lake.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will have successful experience collaborating with ECE faculty and supporting students in practical and community-based settings, including liaising with community educators regarding student progress.

Required qualifications include:

  • A master’s degree in education or a relevant field, or equivalent qualifications/experience, such as a Master of Arts plus five years of professional experience related to the teaching area.
  • Five years of experience working with young children, educators, families, and early years professionals, with knowledge of BC’s Early Learning Framework, professional competencies for BC ECE certification, and current issues in early childhood education.
  • Relevant teaching experience in early childhood education programs for 3–5-year-olds.
  • Knowledge of pedagogical narrations, innovative programs, and Indigenous teaching methods (TRC CA 62).
  • Skills in intercultural understanding, empathy, and curriculum development (TRC CA 10).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience teaching in post-secondary institutions.
