DUTIES

The University and Employment Preparation Department at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a sessional lecturer to teach the following courses in Winter 2025:

  • CHEM 0500 - Foundations in Chemistry 1: Designed for students with no previous high school chemistry but requiring Chemistry 11 for entry into certain programs. Topics include chemical arithmetic, nomenclature, formulas, energy, solutions, atomic theory, bonding, acids and bases, and physical properties. Laboratory sessions reinforce lecture concepts.
  • CHEM 0600 - Foundations in Chemistry 2: An in-depth pre-university course covering gas laws, reaction kinetics, chemical equilibrium, solubility, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction, and organic chemistry. Laboratory exercises complement lecture topics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least one degree in science
  • Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience
  • Experience teaching students from diverse educational, social, and economic backgrounds
  • Evidence of scholarly teaching
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in ABE science courses (preferred)
  • Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (preferred)
  • Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (preferred)
  • Experience developing culturally appropriate curricula (preferred)

Pay Band

$113.21 per hour
