The Department of Environment, Culture, and Society (ECS) requires a sessional instructor for the summer 2025 semester to teach a special topics course ANTH 3390.
ANTH 3390 - ST: First Nations Heritage and Laws: Using case studies, students will learn how First Nations in Canada utilize knowledge, laws, and protocols to protect cultural heritage. We will explore the Canadian legal system, legal cases, Title and rights, UNDRIP, DRIPA, repatriation, cultural knowledge, and Indigenous Laws. Students will evaluate the effectiveness of current Provincial and Federal Legislation, the changes to museum collections, and discuss future directions for the protection of cultural heritage.
PhD in Anthropology or closely related discipline, or PhD candidates and applicants with Master’s Degrees with accumulated professional experience that contributes to engaged scholarly teaching in the fields of Indigenous Studies, community-based research, applied anthropology, archaeology, and/or ethnographic research. Demonstrated teaching ability and expertise in the area of specialization.
Pay Band: $2,575.50 - $2,575.50 (Sessional Faculty - Academic (per credit))
