Alberta Health Services in Lloydminster Hospital is seeking a Service Worker I to support the Hemodialysis Unit within the AKC-N program. You will transport patients and equipment, assist with weighing, and help maintain supplies and linen inventory to ensure safe, efficient care.

Under supervision, you will handle cleaning and maintenance of hemodialysis equipment, participate in training, and report safety concerns. This temp full-time role requires Grade 12 and BCLS-HCP certification.

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
• Must be able to lift minimum of 40 lbs. (18kg).
• Demonstrated good communication skills.
• High degree of motivation and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under supervision and independently.
• Ability to work in an actively paced area and adapts to frequent interruptions in activity.
• The AKC -N program requires candidates to complete/pass Service Worker Hemodialysis Training.
• Candidate must be able to attend training following a successful interview.
• Hemodialysis Training is held in Edmonton or Red Deer with a Clinical Nurse Educator depending on classroom/instructor availability.
• Hemodialysis Training is an intensive 1-week schedule consisting of two parts; Classroom Training followed by an exam.
• A passing mark of 75% is required to move onto Buddy Shifts.
• Buddy Shifts are scheduled by the Unit Manager (2 weeks).
• A satisfactory performance is required during Buddy Shifts to be considered a pass.

Your Opportunity:

The Service Worker I is an exciting role within the multidisciplinary team for the Alberta Kidney Care – North (AKC-N). Under the direction of the nursing staff, the Service Worker contributes to safe patient care and the efficiency of the Unit. The Service Worker provides assistance in setting up, rinsing, dismantling and the maintenance of the hemodialysis machines under the supervision of a nurse. The Service Worker also transports patients, assists with weighing patients, ensures patient comfort, and delivers specimens throughout the Hospital. The Service Worker maintains, cleans and handles hospital equipment pertaining to the Unit, as well as keeps supplies and linens ordered, stocked, and organized. This position is based at the Hemodialysis Unit, Lloydminster Saskatchewan.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous training and/ or experience transporting patients in a health care institution is an asset. Supply chain management experience is an asset.
