Job summary

Shared Health is seeking a Support Service Worker for Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean environment, supporting food service, porter and laundry duties, and assisting with supply replenishment and equipment maintenance.

In-person role with 8-hour shifts, including days/evenings/weekends. Candidates should have experience in healthcare housekeeping/food service, strong customer service, and a valid Class 5 Manitoba driver’s license.

Position Overview

The Support Service Worker is responsible to provide services to patients, staff and community partners of Selkirk Mental Health Centre including a clean environment, food service, porter/laundry services, supply replenishment, equipment maintenance, transportation and security.

Experience

• Experience working in housekeeping and food service in a healthcare or directly related environment is an asset.
• Experience in customer service.
• Experience in a housekeeping/cleaning environment.
• Experience in a food handling environment (knowledge of food preparation and safety).
• Experience in pick-up/ delivery.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

• Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba Standards, required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

• Valid Class 5 Manitoba driver's license is desired.

• May be required to add/update building inventory.
• May be required to relieve for the cook.

Physical Requirements

• Must be physically able to do heavy lifting or carrying, work on feet for eight (8) hour shifts, work at heights and/or in varying environmental conditions (inside, outside, high humidity) and work varying shifts and weekends including statutory holidays.
• Ability to work in plating assembly at a constant, average pace.
• Physically capable of manual labour (heavy and intensive at times).

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
