Position Summary :

As a Service Technician in Training (SIT), you are a driven individual with the ability and willingness to learn all aspects of maintaining a valuable multi-million-dollar asset. SITs should be familiar with hand tools and be mechanically inclined. A successful Service Technician in Training is able to manage their time effectively, is detail oriented, a trustworthy team player, and takes pride in their work. In addition, this position needs to be accountable and attentive to provide excellent customer service skills when interacting with residents, associates, and vendors.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Learning all aspects of preparing apartments for occupancy including painting, drywall repair, trash out, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Performing service requests for residents daily and timely.
  • Performing system repairs on electrical, plumbing, boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC systems, appliances, etc.
  • Executing detailed work with carpentry, drywall repairs, and interior/exterior painting.
  • Distinguishing when full-paint or touch-up paint is needed, and identifying correct paint sheen and color.
  • Cleaning pools, monitoring chemical balance, maintaining logs as required by city ordinances.
  • Performing daily grounds maintenance, including trash disposal, pet waste removal, and sweeping walkways.
  • Participating in property improvements and scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Taking part in the on-call rotation after 90 days of employment.
  • Ensuring apartments, common areas, and amenities are clean and maintained to standards.
  • Assisting with distributing resident correspondence while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Accompanying vendors to units as needed.
  • Monitoring supplies and maintaining equipment.
  • Keeping the maintenance shop and custodial areas clean and organized.

Qualifications :

  • Mechanical aptitude required.
  • Successful completion of the Service in Training curriculum within 6 months.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds, climb ladders, and stairs.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to be on feet for entire shift.
  • Work safely and efficiently.
  • Motivated to learn and contribute daily.
  • Clear professional communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Willing to learn new software like Yardi and Paycom.
  • Adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Prompt attendance and professional appearance.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours and on other properties.
  • English language proficiency, detail-oriented, organized.
  • Background check and drug test consent required.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance.
