POSITION SUMMARY:

We recently constructed a large automated warehouse for one of the world's largest retailers in Canada.

You will play a key role in supporting this advanced warehouse, working closely with various teams to ensure timely preventive maintenance and effective troubleshooting of incidents.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse operations, be comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, and committed to safety and efficiency standards.

This role is vital to our mission of providing excellent service to our customer, enabling their business success in Canada.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Provide troubleshooting support for routine issues in the material handling system.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical components such as motors, gearboxes, rollers, bearings, shafts, and sprockets.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical control components like photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, sensors, solenoids, encoders, and VFDs.
  • Communicate with relevant parties regarding work performed and system status.
  • Interpret engineering drawings related to system layout and operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (electrical and mechanical).
  • Report maintenance activities and system errors.
  • Replace machine spare parts as needed.
  • Report issues requiring attention.
  • Respond to call outs, faults, alarms, and warnings; monitor systems from the Control Room.
  • Adhere to Vanderlande policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Experience supporting automated systems with electro-mechanical skills.
  • Electrical fault-finding and rectification, including field device configuration.
  • Mechanical fault-finding and rectification skills.
  • Experience with electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient with electrical testing instruments.
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualifications.

Other Requirements:

  • Electrical License: Industrial Electrician Trade Certification, Certified Construction/Maintenance Electrician, or 'Red Seal' Industrial Millwright License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Warehouse operations experience.
  • Conveyor or material handling service experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
  • Use of hand tools and testing instruments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Computer proficiency.

Position Type/Hours:

Full-time; 24/7 operation.

Travel:

No travel required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None.

Physical Demands:

Regular communication, physical maneuvering, lifting up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 120 lbs occasionally. Exposure to loud environments and mechanical systems requiring safety precautions such as ear protection.
