Job summary

Precise ParkLink, a leader in Canada’s parking and mobility sector, is seeking a reliable Service Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair parking equipment across Ottawa. You will report to the Service Manager and join a team serving customer sites with on-call rotations.

Full-time position requiring outdoor work in all weather, lifting up to 50 lbs, and travel within Ottawa. Compensation ranges from $23 to $28 per hour, with on-call responsibilities and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License with clean driving record.

  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Clear credit and criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, service, and troubleshoot parking access and revenue control equipment and related components.
  • Perform field repairs on parking equipment and low-voltage hardware/software systems.
  • Diagnose basic electrical, mechanical, network, and connectivity issues with testing tools.
  • Perform low-voltage wiring tasks including pulling, terminating, and labeling cables.
  • Troubleshoot gate operators, control boards, relays, detectors, sensors, and cameras.
  • Assist with setup, configuration, testing of networked parking equipment (routers, switches).
  • Support software troubleshooting for parking access systems and service alerts.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document service activities.
  • Read and follow work orders, diagrams, manuals, and notes.
  • Maintain accurate service records and inventory for daily calls.
  • Keep company vehicle organized and stocked for next shift or on-call.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Service Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair parking equipment and access control systems at customer sites throughout Ottawa.

6am-10pm On-call

Compensation:

$23-$28 per hour

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record - Mandatory.
  • Experience working with electrical and electronic equipment.

Mandatory Attributes:
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and in active parking facilities, garages, lanes, and customer sites.
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs, and perform work that may require bending, kneeling, standing, climbing ladders, and using hand or power tools.
  • Participate in rotating on-call, after-hours, weekend, or overtime support as required.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Ottawa service area.
Job Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Install, inspect, service, and troubleshoot parking access and revenue control equipment, including gates, ticket dispensers, pay stations, card readers, intercoms, loops, sensors, safety devices, and related access control components.
  • Perform field repairs on parking equipment, building access equipment, and related low-voltage hardware and software systems.
  • Diagnose and correct basic electrical, mechanical, network, and connectivity issues using tools such as a multimeter, network tester, toner, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Perform low-voltage wiring tasks, including pulling, terminating, testing, labeling, and verifying cables for parking and access control systems.
  • Troubleshoot gate operators, control boards, relays, loop detectors, photo eyes, vehicle sensors, safety edges, and other common parking system components.
  • Assist with setup, configuration, and testing of network-connected parking equipment, including routers, switches, modems, and other LAN devices.
  • Support software troubleshooting for parking access systems, including basic device configuration, user access issues, equipment communication issues, and service alerts.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspection, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, testing, and replacement of worn parts or consumables.
  • Read and follow work orders, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, installation notes, and service documentation.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, parts usage, maintenance checklists, incident reports, and customer notes in the company service system.
  • Maintain proper vehicle inventory, tools, parts, ticket stock, consumables, and equipment needed for daily service calls.
  • Keep company vehicle clean, safe, organized, and stocked for the next shift or on-call response.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site contacts, service coordinators, supervisors, and support teams.
  • Provide timely updates when service issues, delays, site concerns, or customer problems are identified.
  • Recognize when higher-level technical support is needed and follow troubleshooting instructions from senior technicians or support staff.
  • Provide reliable customer service while working independently or as part of a team to resolve issues within service expectations.
  • Assist with equipment installation, project setup, testing, and customer training as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, site rules, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Adhere to company uniform, appearance, and conduct standards.
