Job summary

Western Tractor in Canada is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of agricultural equipment in our well-equipped shop and on farms.

You will use John Deere programs to access manuals, run diagnostics, install upgrades, and collaborate with a skilled team while upholding safety and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson certificate required in heavy equipment or agricultural tech.
  • 4+ years of experience in agriculture equipment repair.
  • Proficiency in diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and computer diagnostics.
  • People-focused team player with excellent customer service.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to service calls.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of equipment.
  • Travel to local farms to provide on-site service.
  • Perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
  • Utilize John Deere software to access manuals, run diagnostics, and install upgrades.

Requirements
  • Education: Journeyperson Certificate – Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) or Agricultural Equipment Technician (AET).
  • Experience: 4+ years in agriculture equipment repair or a related field. Previous John Deere agricultural equipment and product experience is an asset.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and computer-based diagnostic tools.
  • People-Focused: Team player with a friendly, professional attitude and focus on customer service.
  • Soft Skills: Attention to Detail, strong time management, ability to work independently, and adaptability.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs with long periods of standing and walking.
  • Valid Driver's License: You'll need this for travel to service calls.
