Job summary

Bunzl Canada Inc. is seeking a Service Technician to service packaging equipment and related systems across Western Canada.

You will record service requests, perform preventative maintenance, repair equipment, and follow up with customers on maintenance or concerns. Requirements include a mechanical/electrical/robotics background with at least 2 years of hands-on experience, PLC and VFD programming, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Mechanical/electrical/robotics background or equivalent training.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in service.
• Proficient PLC and VFD programming abilities.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and preventive maintenance on packaging equipment.
• Complete customer service calls and repairs as scheduled.
• Prepare equipment for installation and in-service.
• Maintain customer records and service/work order documentation.
• Build positive relationships with customers, sales staff and management.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using manuals and manufacturer support.

The Service Technician is responsible providing excellent customer service while servicing customer equipment. As a Service Technician, you will record the service request, successfully service equipment and follow up with our customers on maintenance or concerns. The role requires performing service on packaging equipment, pallet wrappers, strapping machines, case sealers, case erectors, shrink systems, thermal printers, and assorted hand tools.

Responsibilities:

• Perform planned and preventative maintenance on company product lines and competitive equipment.
• Complete customer service breakdown calls and repairs as scheduled.
• Prepare new equipment for installation and in-service.
• Maintain customer records and profiles.
• Prepare and complete customer work orders, warranty claims and parts orders.
• Build and maintain our good relationship with our customers, sales staff and management.
• Solve mechanical, and electrical problems utilizing, electronic, and paper service manuals and manufacturers technical support personnel.
• Actively foster key customer relationships and realize future growth potential.

Requirements:

• Have a mechanical / electrical, or robotics automation background, training, or certification.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• PLC and VFD programming experience
• Self-starter who takes initiative and maintains excellent follow-through and follow-up.
• Strong organizational skills
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work effectively in situations that involve change and/or competing demands.
• Perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient handling of all confidential and time-sensitive material
• Ability to stay within budget on expenditures.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
• Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Some Overtime maybe required.
