Job summary

Convergint Calgary is seeking a Security Service Technician to join a team that values world-class service and integrity. You will service and support installed electronic security systems, respond to calls, and contribute to small projects while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will diagnose issues, document service activities, mentor junior staff, and travel to client sites with a valid driver's license, in a dynamic, inclusive workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of field service experience in electronics or security systems.
• Diploma in Electronics preferred.
• Industry-specific certifications such as Lenel, Genetec, CCure, AMAG, Kantech, or Avigilon are assets.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Responds to service and maintenance calls promptly and professionally.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug complex security systems.
• Prepare detailed service reports for invoicing and records.
• Mentor junior technicians and share knowledge with the team.
• Travel to client sites; valid driver's license required.

We take great pride in protecting the lives and assets of our customers and their communities with the solutions we provide.What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”Responds to all types of customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency and after-hours calls on a timely basis; will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug a substantial variety of systems for complex problems. Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Commissions projects as necessary.Identifies and resolves problems for all types of service calls including emergency calls; analyzes repair requirements and provides customer with appropriate solutions; completes necessary repairs and replacements as needed; exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. May require originality and ingenuity in some situations.Completes accurate and detailed service reports for customer and Convergint to allow for accurate invoicing and job cost tracking.Provides technical support to end users and field labour when applicable. Transfers knowledge and expertise to other technicians.Using technical knowledge, skills and experience, acts as mentor for less experienced staff. May supervise workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.May provide guidance to workers in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.What You’ll NeedExceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to anticipate and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being promptedAdvanced technical skills and experience related to electronic security systemsAdvanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutionsMust be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervisionSolid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required.
