Job summary

Farm Boy seeks a front-end supervisor to lead a welcoming checkout experience and support our front-end team with coaching and operational readiness. You will ensure every customer interaction reflects Farm Boy’s commitment to the best fresh shopping experience, while managing cashier responsibilities and supporting daily store operations.

Ideal candidates bring customer-service passion, 1+ year in a similar role, and strong math accuracy.

Qualifications

• Partial college/university coursework plus 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a similar role or equivalent.
• Smart Serve certification or willingness to obtain.
• Strong cash handling accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, confident, and engaging customer service reflecting Farm Boy’s commitment to the best fresh shopping experience.
• Greet, engage, process, and bag customer purchases, collecting accurate tenders.
• Supervise the front-end team and provide floor support by delegating tasks and coordinating meal breaks.
• Provide hands-on training and coaching focused on floor operations, service standards, and service excellence.
• Assist the management team with cashier balancing, change orders, overrides, cart retrieval, and handling returns and refunds.
• Support closing procedures by delegating tasks and ensuring end-of-day completion.
• Assist with the safe handling and sale of alcohol at applicable locations and ensure compliance with Smart Serve requirements.
• Follow Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, and equipment-use policies.
• Participate in periodic additional duties as needed.

• Follow all corporate policies and procedures with particular focus on Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP compliance, and proper equipment use.
• Support the team with additional duties on a periodic basis.

• Partial completion of a post-secondary program plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a similar role (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• The ability to work independently while taking pride in exceptional quality, attention to detail, and strong cleanliness standards.
• For locations selling alcohol: minimum age of 18 years and Smart Serve certification (or willingness to complete).
• Strong mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy in cash handling and transaction processing.
• A collaborative leadership style supported by clear and effective organizational and communication skills.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on setting that involves multiple deadlines, extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, repetitive movement or tasks, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
• Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.
