Job summary

Trivium Packaging in Blacks Harbour, NB is seeking a maintenance mechanic/production technician to maintain production efficiency, instrument safety and quality while following Safety and Quality procedures.

You will perform daily safety checks, inspect product, troubleshoot equipment, operate a forklift, support Lean Six Sigma projects, and assist with new equipment installs and process improvements. This role requires strong attention to detail and teamwork, with flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED completed (Grade 12 or equivalent).
• Probationary period of 480 hours completed.
• Forklift license would be considered an asset.
• Mechanical aptitude with electrical knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks to ensure safe work habits and correct hazards.
• Inspection of product and dimensional/visual quality checks.
• Troubleshoot and assist with production issues.
• Documentation of production and quality assurance checks.
• Maintenance of can, end making, and auxiliary equipment.
• Assist in trial runs and installation of new equipment.
• Support Lean Six Sigma projects and process improvements.
• Operate forklift and read/write production documentation.
• Work across shifts including 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Job description

The position is responsible for maintaining optimum levels of production efficiency, spoilage and quality levels while working in a safe manner and complying with all Safety and Quality procedures.

Job Duties:

• Perform daily / department Safety checks to ensure safe work habits exist and correct hazards
• Inspection of product
• Assist and perform troubleshooting
• Production and quality assurance checks and documentation
• Dimensional and visual quality checks
• Ensure efficient operations of lines
• Maintenance of can, end making, and auxiliary equipment
• Assisting in trial runs (SMA’s)
• Installation of new equipment
• Make minor adjustments as required to meet production
• LSS (Lean Six Sigma) Projects
• Work with all Team members to make recommendations for process improvements.
• Conduct inventory of materials to ensure sufficient stock to maintain operations.
• Be available for call-outs in cases of emergencies and breakdowns.
• Packing and Packaging support at Palletizer systems
• Problem resolution
• Break Relief
• All other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• Prefer mechanical experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment
• Maintenance mechanic or technical production training certification preferred
• High School diploma or GED - Completed Grade 12 or equivalent
• Successfully completed probationary period of 480 hours
• Forklift License would be considered an asset
• Mechanical aptitude with Electrical knowledge a plus
