Jump! recruiters is assisting a Québec City–based engineering client in hiring a Service Manager in Building Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

The role focuses on establishing a new team, leading projects, and driving business development in a dynamic, autonomous environment. Ideal candidates bring a Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and strong PM and coordination skills, with NBC/NFC code knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and professional licensure (OIQ).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in building mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Proven project management and multidisciplinary coordination expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, NBC and NFC compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead department development, talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee growth.
  • Structure and expand the department to meet organizational needs.
  • Plan resources and oversee project priorities.
  • Coach team members and support professional development.

The Role

Our client, a recognized engineering firm, is seeking a Service Manager, Building Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to help establish and develop a new team in the Québec City region.

This strategic role is intended for a professional looking to combine leadership, business development, team management, and technical expertise in a dynamic environment where autonomy, collaboration, and innovation are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities
Department Leadership and Development
  • Participate in talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee development initiatives;
  • Structure and grow the department according to organizational needs;
  • Plan resources and oversee project priorities;
  • Coach and support team members in their professional development;
  • Contribute to achieving the company’s growth objectives.
Business Development and Client Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and business partners;
  • Identify new business opportunities and actively contribute to their conversion;
  • Represent the company with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders;
  • Participate in the preparation and writing of proposals and service offerings.
Project Management and Technical Expertise
  • Act as Project Manager for various building mechanical and/or electrical engineering mandates;
  • Coordinate stakeholders and monitor project progress;
  • Facilitate technical communication among multidisciplinary teams;
  • Participate in the design of building mechanical and electrical systems;
  • Perform cost estimates, technical calculations, and budget evaluations;
  • Ensure quality control of technical deliverables;
  • Participate in site inspections and technical report preparation;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline;
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in building mechanical or electrical engineering;
  • Proven experience in project management and multidisciplinary coordination;
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and standards, including the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and the National Fire Code of Canada (NFC).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project;
  • LEED accreditation or certification;
  • Experience managing technical teams;
  • Strong interest in developing and growing a new office, department, or practice area.
