Job summary

Premier Equipment is seeking a Service Lead to supervise our Ontario service department, ensuring efficient work orders, proper job assignments, and stellar customer satisfaction. You will support the Service Manager in budgeting and team productivity, requiring solid organizational and technical leadership in a fast-paced environment.

The role demands 3+ years as a John Deere Licensed Technician, strong communication, and the ability to lead a team through change, including weekend/on-call

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as a John Deere Licensed Service Technician.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead a team through change.
  • Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products is highly preferred.
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and John Deere programs.
  • Willingness to participate in rotating weekends, Saturday rotation, and on-call program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and organize the day-to-day workload within the service department to exceed work in progress goals.
  • Coach and lead a team of service technicians.
  • Prepare and present quotes to customers for repairs.
  • Provide technical support and problem resolution for technicians and customers, building strong relationships.
  • Direct and assist in the diagnosis of machine problems with technicians and apprentices.
  • Assist the Service Manager with technician recruitment and provide performance feedback.
  • Ensure all assigned work is completed in a timely manner to exceed business and customer expectations.
  • Ensure service Warranty and Product Improvement Programs are completed and submitted within required timeframes to maximize credit.
  • Assist the Service Manager in controlling lost time to meet corporate goals.
  • Work effectively as a team to solve customer issues and deliver best-in-class service.
  • Ensure the team performs in a manner that achieves business goals and metrics.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Service Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of the service department, ensuring work orders are accurately processed, jobs are assigned efficiently, and customer expectations are exceeded. You’ll support the Service Manager in maximizing team productivity, managing budgets, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. This role is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, and a passion for leading a service team in a fast-paced environment.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience as a John Deere Licensed Service Technician.
  • Self-Motivated and strong organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to lead a team through change.
  • Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products is highly preferred.
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with individuals and in group settings.
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and John Deere programs.
  • Participation in rotating weekends, Saturday rotation, and on-call program will be required.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to self-manage, demonstrate leadership, and coach team members effectively.

Willingness to attend training as required

Qualifications
  • Familiarity with John Deere and competitive agricultural equipment is an asset.

  • General understanding of mechanical and technical terms preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.

  • Ability to organize, lead, and manage a team effectively.

Preferred

Prior experience in a service leadership or supervisory role within agriculture or equipment service.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • Participation in Saturday rotation and on-call program is required.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
