Job summary

Premier Equipment Limited, the largest full-service John Deere dealership in Ontario, seeks a Service Technician to diagnose and repair agricultural, turf, and construction equipment in the shop and on-site. You will support AMS, participate in training, and ensure high-quality service while maintaining tools and vehicle readiness.

The role emphasizes safety, accurate documentation, and strong customer communication, with opportunities to advance through John Deere training and related programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on service repair experience.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic abilities.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and basic computer functions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly and operate diagnostic equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs on-site diagnostics and repairs on agricultural, turf, and construction equipment in shop and in field.
  • Supports AMS and participates in service EDUCATE training.
  • Reviews maintenance/repair concerns with customers and documents on work orders.
  • Promotes Premier Equipment service programs to customers when appropriate.
  • Maintains vehicle, tools, and inventory; ensures safety and reports as required.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Service Technician, you’ll diagnose and repair agricultural, turf, and compact construction equipment—both in the shop and out in the field. You’ll be the go-to expert our customers rely on to keep their operations running, handling everything from routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics. You’ll also support precision ag technology, maintain your tools and service vehicle, and stay sharp through ongoing John Deere training.

Responsibilities
  • Performs on-site diagnostics and repairs on agricultural, CWP, and turf equipment, as well as established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products.
  • Participates in required Service EDUCATE training programs.
  • Supports customer clinics.
  • Reviews and explains any maintenance, repair, or other service concerns directly with customers and documents them on work orders.
  • May promote and sell Premier Equipment Ltd. service programs directly to customers.
  • May establish and implement effective stocking processes with the Parts Department to maintain the proper seasonal parts inventory in the vehicle.
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Maintains the condition of the mobile service vehicle, trailer, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments.
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Accounts for all time and materials used in performing assigned duties.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on service repair experience.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic abilities.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and basic computer functions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly and operate diagnostic equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred
  • Licensed technician (310T, 310S, 421A, or 425A).
  • Advanced or Master Service Technician certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with John Deere equipment and systems.
  • CDL and forklift licenses.
  • Background in agricultural, turf, or compact construction equipment.
Education
  • Apprenticeship training or technical diploma is an asset.

Compensation

Placement within the wage range is based on skills, experience and qualifications.

Applicants with more or less experience and qualifications may be placed outside the salary range.

Sales positions will have a commission component as well.

Salary Range

CAD $35.00 - CAD $45.00 /Hr.
